FRANK PIERCE

Frank Pierce
was born into a strong country music family in 1950 on a farm in Keokuk Country
Iowa,
Near What Cheer, Ia. Frank’s father, Ferrill Pierce and his uncle Boyd, were
well known country Music
Performers in Southeast Iowa with a band called Pierce Troubadours. That band
cut a record in
Nashville
in the early 1970’s. Frank grew up attending all these gigs. As a young man he
learned to
Play the guitar and bass guitar and developed his strong vocal country style,
largely influenced by
Major artists such as Hank Sr, Merle Haggard, and especially Waylon Jennings.
Over the past
forty years or so, Frank has played in many bands starting in 1971 in the BC
Gang,
Frank and the Bandits, Diamond Trail Band, Country Images, Regulators, Family
Tradition, Sundown3,
and most recently Midlife Crisis, Through out the years Frank played in
countless gigs at local bars,
clubs, and also at the What Cheer Opera House, Old Thrashers in Mount Pleasant,
Iowa and he never
said No to playing for a benefit when a local family was in need, including a
couple of funerals and
many weddings. Frank is well-known to his fans for his impressive ability to sit
down with an acoustic
guitar and call up and infinite number of country classics.
Frank has
three children and five grandchildren and currently resides in Gibson, Iowa with
his third wife
Tammy. For the past several years, he has hosted an annual community street
dance and invites and
encourages young and old local musicians. The event is full of talented
musicians,lots of great food, fun,
for families where grandparents and grandchildren gather to enjoy the sounds of
wonderful country music.
Like his
country music idols, Frank’s life has been very colorful and rowdy with many
highs and lows,
which has only served to make him the strong authentic country singer/performer
that so many people
in this area love to this day. Frank has dedicated his entire musical career to
keep authentic country
music alive and well in this area. Many of us love country music and play
country music but,
Frank Pierce is country music.
